We deliver flexible, person-centred supports across Canberra and surrounding areas.
Services are available at our centre and in the community.

Employment Support
We help you get ready for work or study.
We also help you find and keep a job.
All support is based on your goals and strengths.

- Practising for interviews
- Support once you start work

Community Participation
Supporting social inclusion and meaningful community engagement
We help Clients become active members of their community.
Support includes:
- Attending social groups and community activities
- Exploring hobbies, interests and local opportunities
- Supporting friendships and social interaction
- Building communication and social confidence
- Support to attend events, workshops and recreational activities
- Participation in local community celebrations and programs
This service reduces isolation and strengthens confidence and social connection.
Group Activities
Structured group programs to build skills and social connections
We deliver small group programs promoting independence and belonging.
Activities include:
- Life skills workshops (cooking, budgeting, cleaning)
- Social outings and community excursions
- Arts, creativity and wellbeing programs
- Recreation and fitness activities
- Themed events and celebration activities
- Communication and teamwork development

Youth Employment Assistance
For young people transitioning from school to work or training
Our SLES program supports school leavers to build independence and confidence before entering the workforce.
We offer:
- Career exploration and goal setting
- Work readiness training
- Basic workplace and employability skills
- Travel training to attend work or training
- Building independence and routines
- Support to attend work experience placements
- Confidence building and personal development
- Life and social skills development
- Support engaging with training providers and employers
This program helps young people move successfully from school into adult life paths.
Support During Life Transitions
Support during major life and personal changes
We support Clients through key life transitions such as:
- Leaving school
- Starting work or study
- Moving accommodation
- Starting new services or programs
- Building new routines and life plans
We assist with:
- Transition planning
- Support coordination and communication
- Developing confidence and decision-making
- Managing change in a structured, person-centred way
NEW: VR Employment Training (Bounce to Work)
Innovative virtual reality training to prepare Clients for real workplaces
Nexus has introduced VR Headset Training as part of our Bounce to Work program to support Clients preparing for employment.
This program uses interactive virtual reality scenarios to simulate real working environments.
Clients will engage in VR modules that help develop:
- Teamwork and communication skills
- Time management and punctuality
- Workplace problem-solving
- Understanding workplace roles and expectations
- Managing stress and emotions at work
- Following instructions and task completion
- Professional workplace behaviour
The VR training provides:
- A safe and controlled learning environment
- Realistic workplace situations without real-world risk
- A supportive way to build confidence before entering employment
- Interactive and engaging learning experiences
This program is especially valuable for Clients who need additional confidence before starting work.
Daily Personal Care
Respectful and supportive daily assistance
We provide personalised support for daily living needs.
This includes:
- Assistance with showering and dressing
- Personal hygiene and grooming
- Meal preparation support
- Medication reminders
- Daily routines and structure
- Support with maintaining a clean and safe home environment
- Assistance delivered with dignity, respect, and independence.
Support is always tailored to Clients preferences and abilities.
Travel & Transport Support
Building safe and independent travel skills
We support Clients to travel with greater confidence and independence.
This includes:
- Learning to use public transport (bus and light rail)
- Route planning and safety awareness
- Using transport and navigation apps
- Travel training to appointments, work, and activities
- Building confidence travelling independently
- Personalised weekly travel plans
Our goal is to support safe and long-term transport independence.
Life Skills Development
Building independence through everyday skills
Our life skills program supports Clients to manage day-to-day living.
Areas we assist with include:
- Cooking and meal preparation
- Money management and budgeting
- Household cleaning and organisation
- Communication and social skills
- Emotional regulation and behaviour management
- Problem-solving and decision-making
- Personal organisation and routine building
- Goal setting and progress review
This helps Clients become more confident and independent in daily life.
